National Building Museum gets a pastry shop, with a Japanese twist

Popular Cleveland Park bakery SakuSaku Flakerie is opening a cafe in the Nationwide Developing Museum’s Terrific Hall.

Popular Cleveland Park bakery SakuSaku Flakerie is opening a cafe in the Countrywide Making Museum’s Fantastic Corridor.

SakuSaku is a French bakery with a Japanese twist, influenced by the owner’s Japanese heritage. Its menu includes croissants, kouign amann cakes, quiches and coffees.

The Creating Museum has not had a cafe since it reopened in April 2021.

The cafe is owned by Yuri and Jason Oberbilling. Yuri grew up in Kobe, Japan and is in charge of the Japanese-affected recipes. Jason manages the enterprise and internet marketing.

“SakuSaku is a Japanese phrase describing what it appears like to chunk into a clean, flaky pastry,” stated Jason. ”I glimpse ahead to sharing our food items with audiences at the Museum and invite our followers to find out the Museum’s inspiring Fantastic Corridor and partaking exhibitions.”

The Cleveland Park site of SakuSaku is operate out of the Italian cafe Trattoria Al Volo. Eater DC has referred to as it Cleveland Park’s new go-to bakery.
